Estimated Fuel Savings Charts

Estimating the value of improved economy

The following charts show annual realized savings based on a percent gain in economy over an existing (pre synthetic oil conversion) gas mileage and $3.25 per gallon cost of fuel. Actual current mileage should be measured carefully and averaged over 3 or more tanks of gas to obtain an accurate mileage estimate. It is also important to note driving conditions at the time of testing. Factors such as vehicle loading, head wind/tail wind, expressway driving, etc. all contribute to substantial variations in economy.

How to take advantage of the savings

If you are a DIY (Do It Yourself) oil changer, no problem. Just order the oil and it will be delivered to your door, ready for the next oil change. If you do NOT change your own oil, simply order the oil and hand it to the mechanic at any independent garage and have them change it for you. (Note: Many oil change facilities are locked by contract into using only one brand of oil) At an independent garage, you will pay for the labor, tax and possibly an oil disposal fee - a fee that is now standard at many oil change locations.

A recommendation to consider

Good for vintage cars as well

If your vehicle engine already has more than 40,000 miles using a petroleum product, we also highly recommend the use of a flush at the time of the oil change. (Your mechanic should know about this and the flush is available from our Product Page) This will clean out a lot of the sludge that has already accumulated inside your engine. The new Amsoil synthetic lubricant will continue the job of cleaning your engine out, as you use it.

One added benefit

Beside the financial savings associated with these products, there is considerable peace of mind that comes from knowing you now have greater engine protection in extreme driving conditions. Such conditions include, but are not limited to:

  • Starting a vehicle in sub-zero weather
  • Driving in blizzard or sub-zero conditions
  • Pulling a trailor, particularly up steep grades
  • Driving across a desert, particularly during the summer months

It is one thing if you are by yourself, but quite another if your entire family is with you. AMSOIL lubricants do such a great job of protecting equipment under these extreme conditions. It just feels good to know that added protection is in place.

SUMMARY:   Like we said - even if you get your current mineral oil for free - you may be throwing money away!
