The Studio
In 2006, my parents graciously offered the use of their home -
an ideal location for Gina's Studio.
Not only is it located approx. 1 mile from I-88, but it was designed with an
artist in mind!
The woman who previously owned the home was a photographer who
had the basement finished - complete with an art studio,
offices, restroom, and
mini gallery. Needless to say, it is a convenient situation.
The studio room itself is fitted with an oversized drafting table, an art desk with a built-in
light box, and three
additional counter-top work stations. The many cabinets and
shelving units are perfect for housing my vast collection of 3D
sculptures and
other objects used by students (and myself!) for life drawing.

Equipment and Services:Over the years I have acquired several tools that I am more than willing to let students use as needed. However, these tools will, most likely, need to be used outside of class and depending on the amount of time required and/or supplies used, I may assess a nominal fee.
CameraUsed to photograph work for prints and/or slides.
Mat cutterStudents are free to use the cutter once they have been trained and have shown their competence with it. Students will need to provide their own mat board.
Light boxGreat for transferring and combining multiple sketches together onto a final sheet. |
Art PrismA helpful tool to ensure that proportions are still correct when drawn on a larger scale. Many artists have used similar devices as far back as the Renaissance!
ScannerUsed to copy, and more often than not, increase the size of reference photogpraphs so that a grid may be applied, in pen, over the top of the printed sheet.
Prints & SlidesObviously, there are many different places to have prints/slides made; however, over the years I have settled on those that I think, for one reason or another, are the best. I am happy to pass this information on or even to combine orders with students in order to get a better rate. |
