Art History
"Learning From The Masters"
While art history is not required, I do encourage it for older students. Art history can be fascinating and is a great way to tie together what students have been learning in other classes throughout the years. By studying the works produced by other artists, many students often discover a whole new direction for their own work as well. From personal experience, this can be very exciting. So, I am offering a semester long art history course for older students.
This class is designed for art students and non-art students alike (great for the entire family!) and will focus on drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and architecture from the Ancient near East c. 2500 BC to the late Renaissance and Baroque periods in the late 1600’s. Other periods included will be Ancient Egyptian, Early Greek, Etruscan, Ancient Rome, Early Christian/Byzantine, Early Middle Ages, Romanesque, Gothic, and early, middle, and late Renaissance. Some of my favorite pieces or subjects we will be covering are cylinder seals, the Pantheon, the Pieta, Brunelleschi’s Dome, and several works by Jan Van Eyck and Durer.
Please let me know if you are interested in the Art History class and I will put you on the waiting list.
