MY ART BACKGROUND
"Living Out a God Given Passion"
A little background information on myself might be in order: My name is Gina Ferguson. I was home schooled for my four years of high school which allowed me the rare opportunity of taking private art lessons from artist Herta Abbar. After completing lesson with Ms. Herta, I received a full scholarship from Elmhurst College where I graduated in May 2006 with a B.A. in Art and English. I commuted to college for my four years and still live at home with my parents, Mark and Linda and my younger sister Krista.
Two of my greatest passions are art and writing and my goal is to one day write and illustrate children’s books. Both my art and my writing have been published in newspapers, magazines, and journals. I have also won several national and international art and writing awards. I enjoy working with children and teens alike and have volunteered as an Awana leader and conference speaker. I am currently teaching middle school and high school Art History, English Writing, and English Literature classes for several local home school groups. I privately tutor in these subjects as well.
"An Example Of Current Work"
I am currently working in colored pencil and experimenting in combining pencil with gauche and water color. Art has also taken me into the realm of photography. Over the last couple of years I have taken several thousand digital photos for both reference and sale.
I do take commissions in graphite pencil, pen and ink, colored pencil, and photography. Several of my pieces are also available as prints. Please contact me for more information.

Below is a series I completed in the spring of 2006 that focuses on the six days of creation as described in Genesis 1. All six pieces were created using colored pencil on matboard. Except for Day One, each piece is a collage demonstrating the beauty and diversity created on that day. |
