MY ART BACKGROUND

Hi! My name is Gina Ferguson and as you have probably already figured out - I love art! While I have been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil, my formal art education did not begin until the fall of 2000 when I began taking private lessons from artist, Herta Abarr.

I was home schooled during my high school years which allowed me the rare opportunity to study under the tutelage of Ms. Herta. After completing my art and history lessons with Ms. Herta, I received a full scholarship to Elmhurst College where I graduated in 2006 with a BA in Art and English.

Two of my greatest passions are art and writing and my goal is to one day write and illustrate children’s books. Both my art and writing have been published in newspapers, magazines and art/literary journals and I have also won several national and international art and writing awards.

I really enjoy working with both children and teens alike! Since the fall of 2006, I have been teaching middle school and high school Art History and English Writing/Literature classes for several local home school groups in addition to giving private art lessons.
